What an Apple Watch repair actually changes
These are properties of the device itself, not of one repair shop. They hold wherever you take it.
Water resistance is not automatic after a repair
The Apple Watch seals against water with an adhesive gasket around the display. Once the watch has been opened that seal has been broken, and resistance is only restored if the gasket is properly reseated. Treat a repaired watch as water-resistant only when you have been told explicitly that it is. That goes for any watch, from any repairer.
Battery health reporting can change
Apple’s battery health percentage is calculated against the cell the watch shipped with. After a replacement the figure may reset, read differently, or stop reporting on some series. A changed reading is not by itself evidence of a bad battery.
The screen is bonded, and the degree varies by series
Glass, digitiser and display are laminated together. On earlier series they can sometimes be separated; on later ones they are treated as a single assembly. That is why a “cracked screen” price is not one number across every Apple Watch.
The force touch gasket doubles as a seal
On the series that use it, the force touch sensor is built as two glued layers that also form part of the watch’s seal. Opening the watch separates them, which is why sensor work is quoted separately rather than folded into a screen price.
